The education sector needs fresh ideas and people, who will be able to put them into life. This Competition is for everyone, there are no restrictions on age and professional affiliation. If you want to offer something to improve the sphere of education, this Competition is for you.

About The Competition

HSE University's Institute of Education and «RYBAKOV FUND» with the support of Agency for strategic initiatives hold a Competition of Innovations in Education.

We invite teachers, entrepreneurs, students and all those interested in education to take part in the Competition. The representatives of the Institute of Education and Higher School of Management conduct educational and business expertise of projects, help to develop ideas and prepare the best teams for negotiations with potential partners.

The winner of the Competition receives the travel grant to present his project anywhere in the world.

At the final, the authors of the best projects introduce them to investors and wide audience. Our sponsors and partners annually announce additional nominations for the Competition finalists and within them hand in their prizes, including foreign internships or financial support.

We invite to participate individual developers and small teams of 2-6 people.

Within the Competition we consider startups at their early stage. Regardless of the phase of project's development, each team must show that they have something more than an abstract idea.

The peculiarity of the Competition is that it is also an accelerator. During the summer school we will help your team to elaborate and finalize the project and introduce it to potential investors or partners.

The teams that pass the first elimination round take part in the second stage of the Competition - the summer school, where they get the opportunity to finalize the project after individual education and business tutorials.

At this stage, not only the concept of the project will be evaluated, but also the way it will be introduced. The participants will be compensated for transportation, food and accommodation expenses. The brightest and most active participants of the second stage will be given a chance to take part in various sponsorship events.

Final

The final of the Competition is traditionally held within the framework of the International Conference on New Educational Technologies #EdCrunch.

At this stage, the participants present the finalized projects to the jury, potential investors and wide audience.

The main prize-winner of the Competition

At the Competition of Innovations in Education - 2017 for the first time, two winners were selected: the project "d notation" from St. Petersburg - an application for inputting and learning notation on smartphones, tablets and interactive whiteboards and "Disgraph" from Krasnoyarsk- an online diagnosis and correction service for children with dysgraphia.

Project "Bilim", Moscow.
The winner in special nominations of the Institute of Education HSE, ASI and HSE Business Incubator.

After participating in the "Nursery KIVO" event, our project received a great response in social networks, and in the final part of the Competition we received an "Audience Award". Such success and recognition inspired us, gave us faith in ourselves and in the future of the project. The experts at the KIVO Summer School provided us with many recommendations, advised to work on scaling of our methodology in order to reach the all-Russian level.

But our main achievement was the support of the Institute of Education, which had become our mentor, provided us with a cash grant and also contributed to the development of the methodical and legal parts of the project. The Agency for Strategic Initiatives offered us to pass an expert review, and so we had become the residents of the HSE Business Incubator. Now, together with our partners, we are developing a self-instruction manual, which will help teenagers to learn Russian. KIVO is an excellent platform to start developing your innovative educational project. We wish prosperity to the Competition and advice young professionals not being afraid to offer new ideas and participate.

At KIVO Summer School we've managed to get a lot of important comments and advice from experts from different industries. We did not win the finals, but, thanks to the thorough expertise, recommendations and competent evaluation of our project in KIVO, we rethought the concept and finalized it, focusing on the strengths of the product.

Since the finals, we've met with publishers of educational aids, and our project received support from the ASI. The main result of participation in KIVO is an acquaintance with many companies and experts involved in the development of educational projects, and, of course, useful feedback from all KIVO participants: organizers, experts, other finalists of the Competition and visitors of the EdCrunch conference.

Project "Urbani Eko", Moscow
The winner in the special nomination of the Moscow Polytechnic University.

The Competition allowed us to publicly announce our project, and after that we could not let ourselves to abandon this idea. In 2016, we held a series of open lectures and the first in Russia Agrohakaton, where the solutions for home "smart" and vertical gardens were discussed. In 2017, we are planning to repeat this event and hold four Agrohakatons devoted to city-farms and "smart" suburban mini-farms. Simultaneously, we are forming a community for the development of city-farming in Russia, and are also planning to create an online course on this topic. We hope, thanks to our team, this year the first roof-farm will appear in Moscow.

Personally, I would like to thank the whole KIVO team for the amazing sensitivity, responsiveness and assistance in the development of "Urbani Eco". I recommend to anyone, who makes educational projects or only intends to create one, to participate in the Competition and use it as a platform for launching and developing your project.

At KIVO we came with an idea or rather even with a dream. With a dream to organize a large business, to enter the international market. We were at the very beginning of our journey, and it wasn't clear to us where to go further. Everything has changed thanks to the Competition: the "expert pipe" helped us pack our dream into a beautiful, structured presentation and develop a plan for further action.

KIVO became the launching pad for us. We realized the importance of our project, received the financial support in the final of the Competition, which helped to accelerate our developments, we believed in ourselves, and most importantly - decided where to move on. Only forward!

Now we are working non-stop over the first version of the product and will soon be ready to present the prototype to the public. Thanks to participation in the Competition, our project is no longer just a dream or a beautiful idea, but a very complex high-tech development. Of course, a long and difficult journey awaits us, but the beginning has been made, and we are not going to surrender.
